Nikon BS1 Replacement Hotshoe Cover f/N65/F65 Review
This is a tiny plastic cover that protects your camera’s external flash metal contacts. I always use this cover when the external flash is not necessary. This is especially important if you use your camera in windy/dusty/wet/high moisture areas – leaving those metal contacts uncovered in situations like these can cause some unwanted damage to your camera’s inwards.
The only negative thing I have to say about this little cover is how easy you can lose it. On most cameras, this cover is “held” in the hot shoe slot by a couple of tiny metal springs that run alongside the hot shoe rails. No big deal – just make sure it is pushed all the way in every time before you use your came.
I recommend getting one of these if your camera did not come with one.

Not the exact replacement for the Nikon D40 – Is5410 – Rochester, NY
I have a Nikon D40 and lost the original. This one doesn’t seem to fit all the way in, so there is a bit of a gap between the end of the cap and the back metal clip of the hotshoe. I might try to shave it a bit with a knife, but I am disappointed it doesn’t go to the edge and dust could still get in.

Great value much less than other choices out there. I know it’s not essential, but it looks good on the D90 and I lost the one that came with the camera. This one fits perfect.
